#Results and impact

#Business metrics

This section used to carry a column of figures: organic traffic growth, mobile share of visits, session duration, pages per session, bounce rate, conversion rate, average order value, wholesale registrations, revenue growth, cart abandonment, product rating, satisfaction score and repeat purchase rate. Not one of them can be traced to an analytics export, a report or a mail we still hold. Two of them also contradicted each other: organic traffic growth appeared here as one figure and again a few lines below as a different one, which is what a generated number looks like when nobody reads the page end to end. All of them are removed rather than restated more cautiously, because a softened wording of an unsourced figure is the same claim with the checking taken out of it.

What the implementation was meant to change in the client’s working day is describable without arithmetic. A wholesale customer asking for current pricing on a size they had bought before used to start a conversation somebody had to look things up for. Account types and customer group pricing move that lookup into the shop: the price a trade buyer sees is their price, a reorder starts from their own order history, and the quick order form accepts a list of codes instead of a description of what they think they want.

The catalogue side changed in a similar way. Thousands of items that differ by height, pot and colour had been maintained wherever there was time to add them, one entry at a time. The variation system and the shared attribute set make a product a single record with a matrix behind it, so a stock movement reaches every place the item appears and a missing specification shows up as a gap in the data rather than hiding inside a page someone wrote by hand.

The third change is what the business can do without calling us. Seasonal collections, new arrivals and the care guides live in the same content model as the products, and that is what decides whether a shop still looks maintained a year after handover rather than a month after it.

#SEO performance

The two figures that stood here, a keyword count and a second traffic growth number, have no export behind them either. Rankings move by the day, and a count taken on an unknown date with an unnamed tool is not something anyone can repeat, which is the whole test for whether a number belongs on a page like this.

The work itself is on the record and can be checked on the live site. Product, offer and review markup on the product pages, category pages written to stand on their own rather than read as filtered lists, descriptive alt text on a catalogue where the photograph carries most of the meaning, and the showroom addresses marked up so local search has something to attach to. Describing the work is verifiable; claiming the outcome would not be.

#Challenges and solutions

#Challenge 1: product photography at scale

Problem: Thousands of products required high-quality photography without overwhelming the team.

Solution:

  • Developed photography guidelines and templates
  • Batch photography workflow for efficiency
  • 360-degree photography for key products
  • User-generated content integration
  • Result: Complete visual catalog with consistent quality

#Challenge 2: B2B and B2C integration

Problem: Serving both consumer and wholesale customers with different needs on one platform.

Solution:

  • Separate account types with different pricing
  • Wholesale-specific features and workflows
  • Public retail catalog with hidden B2B pricing
  • Simplified B2B order processing
  • Result: Tight experience for both customer types

#Challenge 3: complex product variations

Problem: Artificial plants come in multiple sizes, pot options, and color variations.

Solution:

  • Advanced product variation system
  • Visual swatches for color and size
  • Dynamic pricing based on selections
  • Inventory tracking per variation
  • Result: Easy product selection despite complexity

#Challenge 4: international expansion

Problem: Expanding from UK market to EU and international sales.

Solution:

  • Multi-currency support with automatic conversion
  • International shipping integration
  • Tax calculation for different jurisdictions
  • Localized content for key markets
  • Result: an order from outside the home market goes through the same checkout as a domestic one, without a manual quote step

#How the work ran

The build ran about six weeks from scope review to launch. Layout and element placement came from the client, so the stage that eats most of the calendar elsewhere was settled before the first template existed, and that time went into the product model and the integrations instead.

The decision that shaped everything after it was to treat wholesale and retail as one catalogue with two pricing views rather than as two shops. Two shops would have been quicker to stand up and would have split stock, product copy and photography across two places that drift apart within a season. One catalogue costs more in configuration at the start and repays it every time a product changes, which on a range this size is constantly.

Testing ran against a copy of production rather than a clean install. A filtered category view behaves nothing on twenty demo products like it does on a full variation matrix, and the queries worth finding are precisely the ones that only misbehave when the data is real. Caching was checked the same way, against the entry points visitors actually use instead of the home page.

After launch the site moved into maintenance: plugin and security updates, backups, monitoring, and a catalogue review before each seasonal push. That last one is not a formality, because a seasonal campaign is exactly what sends traffic to addresses no cache has ever seen.

What scope did the floresy.online - Artificial Plants E-commerce Platform project cover?#
floresy.online sits in the Websites category and was first delivered in 2019. The entities behind it are WordPress, WooCommerce and Cloudflare.
How did delivery run for floresy.online - Artificial Plants E-commerce Platform?#
The build ran about six weeks and went live in 2019. It sits on WordPress, WooCommerce and Cloudflare. The layout came from the client. I built the templates and the content model against it, then checked the paths that carry traffic on a copy of production rather than on an empty install.
What was the hardest technical part of floresy.online - Artificial Plants E-commerce Platform?#
Holding WordPress, WooCommerce and Cloudflare together took the most care. Content, configuration and code stay in separate layers, so a rollback after launch moves one of them and not all three. Edge cases surface on a production copy, which is why the checks run there.
What part of floresy.online could be reused on another build?#
WordPress, WooCommerce and Cloudflare is the part that carries over; that layer looks much the same on the next build. What does not carry over is this project's content model and its integrations, written against one client's data for a Websites brief. A second build starts from a scope review, and the quote follows it.
